Without question, 2016 was a pivotal year for us. We launched our Blessing the Generations Campaign. We transitioned out of our Sanctuary in preparation for its renovation. We also began working on plans for the new Preschool/Children’s Education Building. Wow!

Now we are moving into a new year. And—2017 promises to be one of most significant years ever as a church family. We will be completing our renovation of our Sanctuary. We are bringing our study of church governance to a conclusion. We have launched a study of our missional organization and commitment as a church. There will be recommendations that will emerge from both efforts that will have long-lasting impact on our church.

We are also embracing a new theme for the entire year: THE GOSPEL: It’s Still Good News! This year will be given to an in-depth study of the holistic nature of the Gospel. The Gospel is the all-encompassing message of God in response to the needs of humanity. We find the roots of the Gospel in the pages of the Old Testament. In the pages of the New Testament we discover the full flower of God’s plan unfolding in the great cosmic drams of redemption. God is at work in His world today as well. We will learn together about the beauty and majesty of the Gospel of God revealed in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Son of Man.

Here are our topics for 2017. We will also be hosting Dr. Scot McKnight, Chair of New Testament at Northern Seminary, as our guest for the weekend of April 22-23, 2017. He is a prolific author and a world renown expert on the Gospel.

THE GOSPEL: It’s Still Good News!

I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

-Romans 1:14-17
