There They Crucified Him
Earlier in this Gospel, John the Baptist met Jesus and exclaimed, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Those prophetic words find fulfillment in today’s passage. On Friday of the original Holy Week, Jesus Christ was condemned to die. He was beaten and humiliated. He was paraded through the streets of Jerusalem. He was nailed to a cross on a hill called The Skull. He hung suspended between heaven and earth. Our sins were placed on His shoulders. The Son of Man. The Son of God. He died in our place. The Son of God is our Savior. He gave His life so that we might find ours. Today, we mourn His death.

You Say I am a King!
Jesus stood trial before Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem. Pilate represented Caesar – the King and Emperor of Rome. However, he was standing before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Our hope is secure because Jesus is Lord!
