Hope for Our Families
April 28 - June 1, 2019

God designed human beings to live in families. None of us chooses to be born! We are born into families. Our families leave indelible imprints on all of us. There is no such thing as a perfect family. After the fall of humanity recorded in Genesis 3, families have all struggled on some level.

However, the challenges and difficulties families face do not negate God’s original plan. He created the family. It is His idea. His desire is for our families to be as healthy as humanly possible. His grace is available to all of our families.

This sermon series will be brief but meaningful. We will address a limited scope of family matters. We will read through the Book of Genesis and pay attention to the stories of real families recorded in this fascinating opening book of our Bibles.

God’s Plan for Humanity

Genesis 1:26-31; 2:18-25

God designed human beings to live in community with Him, His creation, and with each other. The first “not good” in the Bible is found in Genesis 2:18 where God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” God created both male and female human beings. We were given the responsibility to be fruitful and multiply. Human families were a part of God’s original plan for humanity!

Ephesians 5:15-33

Marriage was created by God. At the very foundation of the human family, husbands and wives are to live together in a loving and caring relationship. God has made it possible for us to experience a unique bond of unity through marriage that serves the greater interests of family and society.

The Gift of A Godly Mother

Proverbs 31:10-31

Motherhood is a noble calling. Motherhood is a part of God’s design for the human family. Who can measure the impact Godly mothers have on our society and throughout history? On this Mother’s Day, we will honor this God-ordained role.

God’s Children

Romans 8:14-17

At the very heart of the Gospel is the work of God’s grace. God has adopted us as His children. Paul uses the imagery of adoption to illustrate the power of the Gospel. With regards to human families, the decision to foster and/or adopt children is a work of grace to be celebrated.
